Two men allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint after making her choose between giving them her purse or her dog, according to New Orleans police.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, the 54-year-old woman was approached by two males on a bike while she was walking her dog near Live Oak and Fig streets in Hollygrove, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log. One of the men demanded the woman’s dog. When she refused, the man “implied he had a gun and gave her a choice to hand over her dog or her purse,” police said.

The woman gave the men her purse, and they told her to walk away. The pair then fled the area on bikes, police said.

One of the men had a white mask covering his face, and the other had a black bandana on his face and was wearing a black hoodie. No other details were immediately available.

Police also reported an armed carjacking early Sunday morning near France and North Dorgenois streets in the Upper 9th Ward. Around 1:15 a.m., a 50-year-old woman was driving when she was struck from behind by a red SUV. A passenger in the SUV got out of the vehicle and approached her with a plastic bag covering his hand. He pointed at the woman, and she got out of her car.

The man allegedly fled in the woman’s gray 2005 Acura CSX, and the red SUV followed.
