Early voting results on 10 mills of new property taxes show strong support for funding the fire department, though two propositions for water and sewer are lagging.
The 6-mill tax for maintenance, operation and new equipment for the Westwego Fire Department enjoys 71 percent approval in early voting, with only 29 percent voting against.
The 2 mills each for water and sewer, however, each saw 55 percent voting against and 45 percent voting in favor.
Only 45 votes were cast early in the fire department proposition and 44 for each of the water and sewer propositions.
Results from today’s voting are expected to begin rolling in later this hour.
