Incumbent City Councilwoman Susan Guidry appeared poised for a landslide victory in the race for the District A City Council seat Saturday.

With 54 out of 80 precincts reporting, Guidry led a field of five with about 68.5 percent of the vote. Officials had counted about 8,270 votes for Guidry by 9:24 p.m., more than 6,900 more than her nearest challenger, Jason Coleman.

Coleman had about 11.2 percent of the vote and was trailed by Drew Ward, with 8.8 percent of the vote, David Capasso, with 8.5 percent of the vote and Stephen Gordon, with 3 percent of the vote.
