It’s a tight race for the District D seat on the New Orleans City Council, according to preliminary figures from the secretary of state’s office.

With 6 of 80 precincts reporting, two-term state Rep. Jared Brossett has about 46 percent of the vote, leading Joseph Bouie Jr., a longtime Southern University at New Orleans professor and administrator, by a percentage point.

Community organizer Dalton Savwoir Jr. is in third with 9 percent.
