Longtime school board member Raymond “Ray” St. Pierre has won in the race against opponent Raymond “Ray” Griffin, Jr. for a seat on the Jefferson Parish School Board in District 3.
With all 25 precincts reporting, election results show St. Pierre won with 7,529 votes, or nearly 65 percent of the total. St. Pierre, a Republican, is a retired Jefferson Parish teacher who has served as a School Board member for four terms. He is an adamant supporter of the local union, the Jefferson Federation of Teachers.
Griffin ran with the backing of business groups that succeeded in winning a slim majority of board seats in 2010.
