Westwego family lawyer Danyelle Taylor defeated Marrero attorney Thomas Anzelmo Jr., 57 percent to 43 percent, in the race for the Division O seat on the 24th Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish.

Taylor got 14,552 votes to Anzelmo’s 11,040, with all 82 precincts reporting, according to unofficial returns from the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Taylor, 46, a Republican and lifelong resident of Westwego, has been practicing family law and some personal injury law since 1996, starting her solo practice on the West Bank in 2006.

Anzelmo, 43, an appointed Harahan magistrate judge, was a law clerk for 24th JDC Judge Henry Sullivan.

The two are running to replace Ross LaDart, one of two Jefferson Parish judges forced to retire after reaching the mandatory age limit.
