The National Weather Service has a small chance of snow falling on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain sometime between late Thursday and late Friday.
Between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday the NWS' Weather Prediction Center says there's about a 5-10 percent chance of at least an inch of snow accumulating on the North Shore in that timeframe.
Much like hurricane season, forecasters use computer models to guide forecasts. According to the NWS, the models don't agree much about the possibility of snow.
"The takeaway is confidence will grow over the next few days," the NWS said early Wednesday. "There is a chance of snow flurries on the back edge of exiting moisture with advancing cold air associated with another push of very cold air Thursday night into Friday. Clear skies return for the weekend, but winter has a grip with lows in the upper 20s inland and low to mid 30s coastal. Warmer temperatures are expected next week."
