NEW ORLEANS — Nick Schneeberger hit a two-run single to start Tulane’s four-run third inning, then scored in the sixth inning and again in a four-run seventh that allowed them the Green Wave to pull away from visiting Northwestern State in a 10-3 college baseball victory Tuesday at Turchin Stadium.
Shortstop Mitch Huckabay had three of nine hits by the Demons (14-24), who have lost seven straight.
Tulane starting pitcher Alex Byo (6-3) worked the first six innings to pick up the win.
The Green Wave (27-14) had 14 hits. A walk and three singles, the last by Schneeberger, chased Northwestern State starter Jacob Roark (2-4) to open the third inning. Blake Crohan later hit an RBI double for a 4-0 advantage.
NICHOLLS STATE 11, SOUTH ALABAMA 3: In Thibodaux, Nicholls Stae used a five-run fifth inning to break open a tie game en route to an 11-3 win over .South Alabama Jaguars.
The Colonels (20-20) tied a season-high with 15 hits, led by Michael LeGrange, who was 3-for-3 with a double, single, triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Jeremy Hill, Philip Lyons, Matt Richard and Beau Faulk each had with two hits.
Kory Delange (3-0) earned the win, giving up just three runs on six hits in five innings, with seven strikeouts.
South Alabama fell to 16-25.
LSU-Eunice 17, LSU-Alexandria 0: In Eunice, Zac Person (6-0) allowed three hits and no runs in six innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks for LSU-Eunice.
LSU-Eunice (41-4) had 22 hits, led by Sam Carriere, who went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Dalton Herrington went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs for the Bengals; Zac Hawkins went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and three RBIs; and Buddy McCoy was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBIs.
