Madison Prep defensive end Bryan Jones is one of Louisiana’s most intriguing prospects in the Class of 2017. The 6-foot-5, 242-pounder is a four-star prospect who has 33 scholarship offers.
Jones added a new chapter to his recruitment story by committing to Ole Miss on Sunday night. He announced the decision on Twitter.
“What made me commit to Ole Miss was I love the job coach (Chris) Kiffin is doing with the defensive line,” Jones said to The Advocate via text message. “And I love the way the defense attacks offenses and uses the best players to get the job done. I love (head coach Hugh Freeze) because he’s a player’s coach and down to earth.”
Ole Miss is one of six Southeastern Conference schools that have offered Jones, who helped MPA advance to the Class 2A select state quarterfinals as a junior. The others are Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee.
The ACC’s N.C. State and the Big 12’s Kansas State also are among the schools to offer Jones, who said he still plans to make fall visits to multiple schools.
“I’m working to improve my whole game, getting stronger, faster and more violent with my hands,” he said.
