The LSU-Eunice baseball team is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll released Monday.

The Bengals were 52-10 last season and runners-up in the national championship game.

“The preseason rankings are nice for our program and university, but the rankings are not a goal of ours,” coach Jeff Willis said.

“The preseason rankings are really what happened last year, and our players need to live in the present. So we are extremely grateful for the preseason ranking, but we need to keep it in perspective and realize we have a ton of work to do.”

Murray State College is ranked No. 1 after their championship last spring.

The Bengals will play a pair of three-game series against Top 10 teams.
