HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana guard Brandon Fortenberry scored 16 points with three assists and two steals to lead the Lions to a 74-44 exhibition men’s college basketball win over Millsaps College at SLU’s University Center.

Forward Roosevelt Johnson added 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots; and Jan Petrovcic had 10 rebounds and two blocks.

DeShawn Patterson came off the Southeastern bench for a game-high six assists and three steals.

Fortenberry’s 3-pointer with 4:24 left in the first half gave him 13 points the Lions a 28-2 lead en route to a 40-9 halftime advantage.

LSU transfer Daron Populist played 19 minutes, scoring three points with two rebounds and two assists.

Nick Corese and Taylor Meades paced Millsaps with nine points each. Jeff Brown had five rebounds and Brian Merkel had five assists.

Southeastern Louisiana begins the regular season at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tulsa.
