Zephyrs 5, Express 1
Round Rock, Texas — Kyle Jensen hammered a first inning three-run home run to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 5-1 win over the Round Rock Express at The Dell Diamond. The win snapped a four-game losing streak and evens the series at one game each.
Elih Villanueva (2-1) pitched six innings allowing one run on four hits and struckout seven for his second consecutive victory. Henry Rodriguez followed him with two shutout innings of relief, striking out five. Chaz Roe worked a perfect ninth to finish off the Express.
Jordany Valdespin picked up three hits including a triple and Justin Bour had a double and had an RBI for the Z’s.
Jensen’s home run was his second of the year and his first since opening day, April 3. The Zephyrs improve to 10-3 when scoring first.
The Zephyrs continue their road-trip with the third game of the series against Round Rock on Sunday. The Zephyrs will start RH Jay Rogers (1-1, 4.43 ERA) against Express RH Justin Germano (1-3, 2.90).
