HAMMOND — Because of inclement weather, Southland Conference Softball tournament games scheduled for Friday were postponed. Tournament officials will meet again 7 a.m. Saturday to reassess field conditions.
There are currently no set game times for the remainder of the tournament.
The tournament’s next game, weather permitting, will feature No. 3 Sam Houston State and No. 5 Houston Baptist, followed by No. 4 Stephen F. Austin and No. 6 Central Arkansas.
The third game will feature No. 1 seed McNeese State against No. 2 seed Northwestern State with a berth in the tournament championship on the line.
Region 23 tournament
GAMES RESCHEDULED: In Ellisville, Miss., the NJCAA Region 23 tournament was rescheduled because of rain.
Friday’s schedule was postponed, and No. 1 LSU-Eunice (57-2) will play the winner of Saturday’s Jones County-Pearl River elimination game. The winner of the game will need to beat the Lady Bengals twice to take the title.
With their two wins Thursday, LSU-Eunice secured a spot in next week’s NJCAA National Championship tournament.
The Lady Bengals’ game on Saturday is still at a time to be announced.
