Port Allen High, Walker High and St. Michael the Archangel all took different routes to garner road wins in high school football.

PAHS used its defense as a rallying point in a 27-6 victory over White Castle High.

Meanwhile, Carlton Perkins ran for 342 yards on 42 carries and scored all three touchdowns as Walker edged West St. Mary, 21-19.

St. Michael raced out to a 24-0 second-quarter lead on the way to a 24-10 road win over Jewel Sumner.

The three games helped highlight the results reported late Friday.

PORT ALLEN 27, WHITE CASTLE 6: In White Castle, Class 3A Port Allen (5-0) held the 1A Bulldogs (1-4) to 147 total yards and limited all-state running back Tyre Bracken to 87 yards on 26 carries.

Terrell Lockett led the PAHS defense with 10 tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack.

Quarterback Darian Claibourne was a double threat, running for 147 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns and passing for 122 yards and two TDs.

Claibourne had scoring passes of 55 yards to Ashton Williams and 20 yards to Chris Bynum. He also had scoring runs of 20 and 3 yards. Bracken scored on an 85-yard kickoff return for WCHS’ only points.

WALKER 21, WEST ST. MARY 19: In Baldwin, Perkins put together his second straight 300-plus yard rushing game. He scored on runs of 62, 40 and 10 yards to help the 5A Wildcats (2-3) roll up 406 rushing yards.

Jontrey Tillman ran for 164 yards on 11 carries for Class 2A West St. Mary (4-1), which saw its four-game winning streak snapped.

ST. MICHAEL 24, JEWEL SUMNER 10: In Tangipahoa, Class 4A St. Michael (5-0) completed its nondistrict schedule unbeaten for the first time in school history.

The Warriors passed for 227 yards. Dash Duncan threw TD passes of 39 and 27 yards to Sonny Adams. J.T. Mauldin, who scored on a 49-yard run, helped SMHS tally 218 rushing yards. Ashton Fletcher had a 25-yard field goal for the winners.

Tyler Trout returned a blocked punt 26 yards for 3A Sumner’s lone TD.

LORANGER 20, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 17: In Hammond, B.J. Rainey tossed the game-winning 19-yard TD pass to Jonathan King with 3:10 remaining as Loranger (5-0), ranked sixth in 3A, remaining unbeaten.

Rainey completed 11 of 17 passes for 176 yards and three TDs. King caught all three scoring tosses and finished with eight catches for 107 yards.

Darryl Moore completed 8 of 18 passes for 164 yards to pace 2A STA 1-4.

ST. THOMAS MORE 39, BARBE 36: In Lake Charles, top-ranked St. Thomas More (5-0), of Class 5A, survived a back-and-forth battle to oust 5A Barbe.

Don Oliver’s 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter provided the margin of victory for the Cougars.

STM won despite the career-best numbers put up by Barbe quarterback Kennon Fontenot and receiver Trey Quinn. Fontenot completed 29 of 37 passes for 500 yards and two TDs. Quinn had 16 catches for 335 yards and one TD catch. He also ran for two scores.

Brandon Bergeron completed 22 of 30 passes for 259 yards to help lead STM. Andrew Stevenson had 11 catches for 88 yards, while Matthew Flores ran for 66 yards on 11 carries for the winners.

CARENCRO 65, SAM HOUSTON 0: In Moss Bluff, Alex Johnson ran for 214 yards on seven carries and scored four TDs to pace the fifth-ranked Bears (5-0) in their 3-5A opener.

Johnson had a scoring run of 65 and 73 yards for the Carencro.

Kelsey Richard passed for 144 yards for SHHS.
