MORGAN CITY — Ninth-ranked Central Catholic-Morgan City scored 10 fourth-quarter points, including a 14-yard touchdown run by Lloyd Grogan, to notch a 23-14 victory over top-ranked White Castle High Friday night.

WCHS (1-1) held a slim 14-13 lead until Dontrell Brown booted a 20-yard field goal with 8:56 left in the fourth quarter.

Grogan, who finished with a team-high 71 yards on 16 carries, scored on the 14-yard run three minutes later for the Eagles (2-0).

Tyre Bracken ran for a game-high 117 yards on 28 carries to pace White Castle. Isaac O’Bear completed 11 of 27 passes for 145 yards for the Bullogs. CCMC’s Josh Singleton completed 15 of 26 passes for 154 yards.

ST. PAUL’S 15, ACADIANA 14: In New Orleans, Kris Brumfield caught the game-winning 24-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Duncan with 42 seconds left in the game to give fourth-ranked St. Paul’s (2-0) a win over top-ranked Acadiana (1-1) in the game between 5A powers.

Trent Domingue also booted field goals of 19, 40 and 22 yards for the Wolves.

Jeff Brown led Acadiana with 73 yards on 15 carries in a game at the Louisiana Superdome.

PLAQUEMINE 28, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 26: In Galliano, quarterback Ricky Aro scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter to rally Class 4A Plaquemine (1-1) to victory.

Hakeem Deggs led the Green Devils with 137 yards on nine carries with one TD. Deggs’ TD came on a 73-yard run in the first quarter.

Quarterback Seth Griffin led 5A South Lafourche (0-2) with 165 rushing yards on 24 carries. Griffin also passed for 74 yards and two TDs.

LUTCHER 42, MCDONOGH 35 14: In Lutcher, Daniel Taylor ran for 198 yards on 25 carries with two TDs for the host Bulldogs (1-1), of Class 4A.

Ruston Matherne completed 9 of 16 passes for 112 yards and three TDs for the winners and also added 88 rushing yards on 10 carries.

Jyron Walters completed 6 of 14 passes for 176 yards and one TD for New Orleans-based McDonogh 35 (1-1).

DESTREHAN 45, ST. JAMES 22: In Destrehan, LSU commitment Rickey Jefferson caught two passes for 112 yards and two TDs and also ran for 73 yards on five carries with another TD for the winners.

Jefferson caught TD passes of 66 and 46 yards and also scored on a 69-yard run for Class 5A DHS.

Rashaan Dennis returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown to pace 3A St. James (0-2).

NORTHEAST 21, BELAIRE 0: In Pride, Reggie Richardson ran for 101 yards on 14 carries, while Ronnie Davis passed for two TDs to pace Class 2A Northeast (1-1).

Davis, who also rushed for 88 yards, competed 12 of 26 passes, including touchdown passes of 37 yards to Jalen Snowden and 18 yards to Aaron Magee. Davis also scored on a 2-yard run.

Class 4A Belaire (0-2) managed just five first downs and 60 yards.

LOREAUVILLE 34, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 31: In Hammond, sixth-ranked Loreauville (1-1) scored 22 third-quarter points en route to a nondistrict win in a match-up of Class 2A teams.

Nick Julien ran for 242 yards on 23 carries with three TDs to lead Loreauville. Darryl Moore completed 18 of 32 passes for 248 yards and four touchdowns to power St. Thomas Aquinas (1-1).

Dillon Breard (17 carries, 95 yards) and Stephen Wronkoski (16 catches, 113 yards) were other leaders for STA.

CHURCH POINT 28, KAPLAN 0: In Kaplan, Church Point (2-0) raced out to a 21-0 halftime lead in a nondistrict game between Class 3A teams.

Gallen Williams finished with 96 yards on 13 carries for CPHS, while Jacob Boone added 66 yards on 12 carries, including TD runs of 11 and 10 yards.

Kameron Abshire completed 8 of 17 passes for 65 yards to pace Kaplan (1-1).

SACRED HEART-VP 32, BASILE 26 OT: In Basile, Nick Firmin scored on a 6-yard run, giving Sacred Heart-Ville Platte (2-0) a come-from-behind win.

Rowdy Parrott ran for 82 yards and Firmin added 81 rushing yards for the Class 1A Trojans.

Dylan Matte finished with 108 yards on 22 carries for Basile (1-1).

NORTH VERMILION 34, VILLE PLATTE 24: In Maurice, Tim Baudoin ran for 93 yards on 18 carries for 3A NVHS (1-1).

Baudoin, Kenneth Johnson (32-yard run, 18-yard interception return), Jeremy James (1-yard run) Joe Duhon (1-yard) all scored for North Vermilion.

Cody Jones completed 15 of 30 passes for 322 yards and three TDs for 2A Ville Platte (2-0).
