The day Southeeastern Louisiana has been waiting for has finally arrived.

The No. 8/10-ranked Lions on Sunday received a No. 4 seed and first-round bye in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

SLU will host the Sam Houston State-Southern Utah winner on Dec. 7. The Lions defeated Sam Houston State earlier this season.

SLU (9-2, 6-0) completed its regular season with a win against Nicholls State on Thursday night.

The FCS playoffs are a 24-team field. North Dakota State (11-0), the No. 1 national seed, is the two-time defending national champions. The top eight national seeds received first-round byes.
