RUSTON — Raheem Appleby scored 28 points as Louisiana Tech ran away from Northwestern State 93-71 in men’s college basketball Wednesday night.
Louisiana Tech (8-2) shot 58.5 percent from the floor, including 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc. Alex Hamilton added 13 points while Kenneth Smith dished out 12 assists to go with his 12 points.
Northwestern State (3-5) was paced by Jalan West’s 28 points while DeQuan Hicks chipped in with 19 points.
The Bulldogs built an 11-point halftime lead largely due to the effort of Appleby, who scored 20 in the first half.
A 12-2 run in the middle of the second half by La Tech turned a 9-point lead into a 19-point advantage at 11:41. The Demons cut the lead to 11 after a Hicks free throw at 5:48, but that’s as close as they would get as the Bulldogs pulled away at the end.
LOUISIANA TECH 74, NORTHWESTERN STATE 70: In Ruston, Chrisstasia Walter scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead the Lady Techsters at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Whitney Frazier at 15 points and 13 rebounds for Louisiana Tech (3-6).
Janelle Perez led Northwestern State (4-4) with 11 points. Keisha Lee added 10 points.
McNEESE STATE 68, ULM 63: In Lake Charles, Allison Bagget scored 22 points to lead McNeese State over Louisiana Tech at Burton Coliseum.

Ashleight Simmons scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Warhawks (5-3), who were playing their only road game during a four-game, seven-day stretch. Jasmine Shaw added 14 points.
