DONALDSONVILLE — Quarterback Devon Breaux rolled up 367 yards of total offense for Donaldsonville. But Breaux’s totals were not enough to keep Port Allen from notching a 34-30 victory Friday night.
Port Allen quarterback Darian Claiborne finished with 238 yards of total offense and like Breaux had a hand in four touchdowns in the District 7-3A game played at Floyd Boutte Stadium.
Claiborne finished with 128 yards rushing on 28 carries, including TD runs of 1, 14 and 14 yards. His final TD in the quarter, combined with a two-point conversion pass to Quincy Paul, provided the winning margin. Claiborne completed 8 of 16 passes for 103 yards for the Pelicans (7-1, 2-1).
Breaux ran for 141 yards on 24 carries with touchdown runs of 15 and 1 yards for Donaldsonville (3-5, 1-2). The Tulane commitment completed 10 of 18 passes for 226 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown pass to Cortez Mitchell. Tre Brown scored on a 75-yard run for the Tigers.
ST. CHARLES CATHOLIC 35, BRUSLY 0: In LaPlace, Tulane commitment Lazedrick Thompson ran for 176 yards and four TDs to pace top-ranked St. Charles (8-0, 3-0).
Thompson had scoring runs of 47, 46, 17 and 4 yards for the Comets.
Donnie Savoie passed for 135 yards and one TD — a 47-yard pass to Chris Millet for the winners.
CENTRAL CATHOLIC 52, GUEYDAN 6: In Gueydan, Lloyd Grogan had a 32-yard scoring run and had TD catches of 38 yards and 53 yards to pace sixth-ranked Central Catholic-Morgan City (7-1, 2-0) in a District 8-1A game.
Joshua Singleton completed 7 of 8 passes for 184 yards and four touchdownss for the winners. Luke Landry (37 yards) and Dontrell Brown (18 yards) had the other scoring catches. Singleton also scored on a 48-yard run.
