Several individual winners were crowned at the 26th annual Providence Corporate Cup 5K run/walk held Saturday in Baton Rouge.
Mark Primeaux was all divisions overall male winner in 16 minutes, three seconds, while Rebecca Tucker (19:57.0) was the all divisions overall female winner.
In the corporate team division, Allie Stone (20:55.2) was the top female finisher, and Eric Powers (16:12.3) was the top male finisher.
SOUTH LOUISIANA GOLFWEEK TOUR EVENT WINNERS NAMED: Mike Meadows of Lafayette fired a 71 to win the championship flight of the South Louisiana Golfweek Amateur Tour event Saturday at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews.
Mike Kapp of Berwick (75) finished second in the championship flight, followed by Jeremy Guilbeau of Belle Chasse (75).
Houma’s Chad Pontiff (74) won the A flight, followed by Lafayette’s Les Bradley (75), Jason Roy (76), Chad Smith (76) and Lee Arcement (76).
Lafayette’s Sean Landry (84) won the B flight, followed by New Orleans’ Ernie Joiner (85) and Tommy Fontenot of Carencro (85).
DJ Cortez of Houma fired an 81 to win the C flight, followed by Darin Stewart of Lake Charles (82) and Chester Davis of Baton Rouge (84).
James Tate of Baton Rouge shot a 90 to win the D flight, followed by Terrence Mitchell of New Orleans (95) and Murphy Leday of Lafayette (97).
BAKER ROTARY SCRAMBLE WINNERS NAMED: The team of Mike Collins, Central Mayor Mack Walls, Steve Nunley and Shane Hebert fired a 61 for the top low gross score to win the Baker Rotary Club Scramble held at Dumas Golf Club.
The format was four-player scramble.
The top low net score of 57 went to the team of Warren Williams, Len Felix, John Knighten and Donald Hayes.
The team of Ginger Vann, Butch Plauche, Scott Haynes and Randy Herring had a 58.
BREC-CALLAWAY GOLF LEAGUE: The team of Mike Fletcher and Jason Helmke had a team low gross score of 29 to win the BREC-Callaway Golf League held at Dumas Golf Club. The format was a nine-hole best ball.
Jared Helmke and Steve Dotreau (30) finished second, while Jason Miller, who played without a partner, was third with a 35.
Miller had the top individual low gross score with a 35, while Helmke was second with a 35 and Dotreau third with a 36.
NELSON WINS WESTDALE LADIES TOURNAMENT: Patti Nelson had a two-day net score of 141 to win the Westdale Ladies Handicap golf tournament April 8 and 10 at Webb Park.
Peggy Simon (149) finished second, followed by Linda Booth (150), Cindi DiMarco (150), Ann Flack (152) and Donna McCurdy (153).
The ‘A’ division special event winners were: Thelma Price (longest drive), Libby Smith (closest to pin) and McCurdy (fewest putts). McCurdy finished with 28 putts.
The ‘B’ division special event winners were: Ellen Motichek (longest drive), Maureen Dartez (closest to pin) and Mary Ordoyne (fewest putts). Ordoyne had 33 putts.
GILMORE, PERTUIT WIN STATE MIXED DOUBLES TITLE: The team of Tim Gilmore and Pat Pertuit of Bayou Vista went 5-0 to win the Class A title at the Louisiana State Horseshoe Mixed Doubles Championships held Saturday at Moose Lodge Country Club in Shreveport. The duo was also crowned tournament champions.
Ricky and Bobbie Richard of Church Point finished second in Class A, followed by Edie Corso of Harahan and Larry Pertuit of Marrero.
In Class B, Sharla Fontenot and Tanner Pousson of Lacassine went 6-0 to take the title, followed by Laura Williams of Shreveport and Bill King of West Monroe. Jerry Sneary and Joanna Holton of Shreveport finished third.
Patti Smith and Jerry Dupont of Keithville went 5-1 to win the Class C title, followed by Theresa and Bob Kraus of Shreveport. Belinda McClain and Jonathon Johnson of Keithville finished third.
In Class D, Mary Woodall and Steve Rotach of Minden went 5-0 to win the title, followed by Alan Bass and Lacey Buccola and Paul Thompson and Mabeth Johnson of Shreveport.
