KNOXVILLE — Six Knoxville IceBears scored goals, including four in the second period, to take a 6-3 victory over the Louisiana IceGators in Southern Professional Hockey League action Saturday night.
In the first period, the IceGators’ Jeremy Boyer gave his team a 1-0 lead (3:21), but the IceBears’ Peter Neal answered to tie the score.
In the second period, Jake Johnson and Jarrett Rush scored goals to give the IceBears a 4-1 lead. Tyler Barr’s goal trimmed the deficit to 4-2 (11:54), but the IceBears responded with goals by Dennis Sicard and Robbie Donahoe.
In the third period, Brett Valliquette’s goal capped the IceBears’ scoring to make it 6-2. Jake Hauswirth’s power play goal accounted for the IceGators last goal.
The fourth-place IceGators (20-14) travel to Pensacola to take on the Ice Flyers at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.
