NEW IBERIA — A group of Baton Rouge area players are scheduled to compete in a Team USA Baseball-sanctioned National Team Identification Series set for Saturday and Sunday at Acadian Ballpark.

All-star teams from Louisiana and south Texas will square off in games for 16-year-olds and 18-year-olds each day.

On Saturday, action begins at 4 p.m. with a 16-year-old game between Louisiana and south Texas teams. The 18-year-old teams are scheduled to follow at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s schedule starts with a 16-year-old game at 1 p.m., followed by the 18-year-old game at 4 p.m.

Members of Louisiana’s 18-year-old squad include: shortstop-pitcher Troy Lewis of Dutchtown and first baseman Brandon Armand of Livonia along with five players from two schools, Parkview Baptist and St. Michael the Archangel. Third baseman Brennan Bozeman, outfielder Hezekiah Randolph and pitcher Russell Reynolds are the PBS players. Third baseman Adam Cagnina and pitcher John Thomas Mauldin represent St. Michael.

The Louisiana 16-year-old squad includes outfielder-pitcher Jyron Walker of The Dunham School, outfielder-pitcher Bryce Brown of Walker, catcher James Kern of University, outfielder Simon Prevot of Catholic High, pitcher-outfielder Lenni Kunert of Live Oak, and third baseman-pitcher Erin Bringer of Dutchtown.
