Terry Ledet fired a 73 to win the championship flight of the Howell Jaguar Open on Saturday at Howell Park Golf Club.

The format was individual stroke play over 18 holes.

Chuck Danna (75) was second in the championship flight, followed by Chad Blanchard (78). Jason Miller and Hunter Spedale (79) tied for fourth.

Nathan Frye (85) won the first flight, followed by Rodney Holiday (87), Will Worley (88) and Jordan Manchester and James Tatman (89), who tied for fourth.

Clay Smith (92) captured the second flight, while Moese Williams (92) was second. Steven Johnson and Bill Scott (96) tied for third.

Delores Andrews (106) won the ladies flight.

THOMAS-WILLIAMS-VANN TEAM TAKES BEST BALL EVENT: The team of Mike Thomas, Mo Williams and Ginger Vann shot a 5-under-par 31 to win the Howell Park Weekly Thursday Best Ball event.

The format is a nine-hole best ball blind draw.

The team of Ed Mitchell, Dave Raby and Roy Gay (4-under 32) was second, followed by the team of Lam Hill, Jason Miller and Nolan Turner (2-under 34).

Mitchell had the best individual low round (3-under 33), followed by Thomas (1-under 35) and Al Bell (even-par 36).

Boxing

GREEN WINS TITLE: Kevin Green of New Orleans recently won the world championship in the middleweight division at the Ringside World Championship in Independence, Missouri

Green, 32, also won the Louisiana Golden Gloves for his weight division in Lafayette earlier this spring and competed in the Mid- South Regional Golden Gloves, winning his first bout.

He also competed in the Men’s Elite Olympic trials in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in June, winning his first four bouts before losing in the semifinals and finishing with the bronze medal.
