HAMMOND — Nate Frye scored 17 points, and Tevin Broyles made a layup in the waning seconds to help the UNO men slip past Southeastern Louisiana 74-73 on Monday night.
Southeastern (9-18, 6-8 Southland) used a 14-6 run to take a 73-72 lead with 18 seconds to play.
Broyles’ layup three seconds later proved to be the winner as Grieves missed a potential winning layup on the other end with 2 seconds left and UNO’s Kevin Hill snared the rebound.
Kevin Brown scored 13 points, and Christavious Gill had 12 for UNO (8-15, 4-10).
Zay Jackson scored 15 points and Onochie Ochie had 11 for Southeastern. Devonte Upson added 10 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven blocks.
Northwestern State 79, Nicholls State 57: In Thibodaux, Zeek Woodley scored 25 points and Jalan West had 19 points and nine assists as Northwestern State rolled over Nicholls.
