BEAUMONT, Texas — Tyran de Lattibeaudiere scored 14 points, hauled in 10 rebounds and Lamar defeated Southeastern Louisiana with a 57-50 win Monday night in state men’s college basketball action.
Anthony Holliday added 12 points and Marcus Owens had 10 as Lamar (10-8, 4-2 Southland) snapped a four-game skid against Southeastern Louisiana (5-13, 2-3) and extended its series advantage to 24-20.
Down by 10 with 5:17 left in the first half, Lamar raced to the break with a 14-3 run that included four free throws and a layup just ahead of the buzzer from Owens to take a 29-28 advantage into the locker room.
Southeastern Louisiana retook the lead early in the second half but Lamar stayed close, powering past the Lions with a 3-pointer from Dontavious Sears that made it 44-42 with 6:49 to go and the Cardinals pulled away down the stretch.
Zay Jackson led Southeastern Louisiana with 19 points.
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 79, UNO 54: In Nacogdoches, Texas, Jacob Parker scored 19 points and Stephen F. Austin handled UNO.
Parker was 7 of 10 from the floor, including 3 of 5 beyond the arc. Jared Johnson contributed 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting while Thomas Walkup and Dallas Cameron added 12. It was reserve guard Cameron’s career-high.
The Lumberjacks shot 63 percent and was 6 of 14 beyond the arc.
Stephen F. Austin (15-3, 5-0 Southland), which extended its winning streak to 14 games, raced out to a 13-2 lead — behind seven points by Jared Johnson — and led 36-29 at the break.
The Lumberjacks pushed the lead over 20 when Clide Geffrard’s layup made it 61-40 with 9:38 left.
Christavious Gill paced UNO with 13 points and Terrance Syon added 11 points and six rebounds.
