FLOWOOD, Miss. — Silliman institute saw its fastpitch softball season end on Saturday with a victory and two losses at the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Overall Class 2A State Tournament at Liberty Park.
The Clinton-based Wildcats (32-11-1) opened the tourney with an 11-3 win over Marshall Academy. Kayla Davidson got the win. Taylor LeBlanc finished with three hits, while Ashley Hurst and Katilyn Weaver each had two hits.
Silliman fell into the losers bracket with a 2-1 loss to Canton Academy. Callie Venable and Morgan Ohlinger had two hits apiece in that game.
North Delta then defeated Silliman, 3-2, in extra innings late Saturday night. Davidson took the loss and finished 23-7 for the year.
The Wildcats, who won MAIS District 6-2A and MAIS 2A South State titles, managed just five hits.
