TAMPA, Fla. — Corey Allen Jr. scored 19 points to help South Florida beat undermanned Southeastern 78-63 on Tuesday.

Nehemias Morillo and Anthony Collins had 12 points apiece for South Florida (6-6) and Chris Perry added 10.

Joshua Filmore and Onochie Ochie scored 16 points each for Southeastern (3-10). Cedric Jenkins added 15 points, including four of the Lions’ 10 3-pointers.

Filmore played his second complete game in less than 24 hours after Southeastern lost to Central Florida on Monday.

The Lions were without leading scorer Zay Jackson for a second consecutive game because of injury.

“We took them deep into the clock a number of possessions, kind of like we did at Central Florida,” SLU coach Jay Ladner said. “From the 3-point line they had been shooting 28 percent, but today it was over 53 percent. A lot of those shots we had people right there.”

In the first half, Troy Holston Jr. scored eight points during South Florida’s 12-2 run for a 38-25 lead. Southeastern scored the final five points of the half to trail 38-30.

Southeastern hosts Dillard for an exhibition game at 6 p.m. Monday.
