The Baton Rouge Capitals will play their final game away from home this season when they visit the Mississippi Brilla on Saturday to complete a three-game road swing.

The action begins at 7 p.m. at Harper Davis Field in Jackson, Miss.

After going 5-1-1 during a stretch of seven midseason games, Baton Rouge suffered a 3-1 setback at New Orleans on Wednesday, dropping the Capitals to the brink of elimination in the Premier Development playoff chase.

Baton Rouge (6-6-1) trails Laredo by six points for second place in the Mid-South Division and New Orleans by four points for third. Only the top two teams in each division qualify for the playoffs.

The Capitals look to get back on track against a Mississippi team they beat 3-1 at Christian Life Academy on June 16. The victory knocked Mississippi out of first place in the Southeast Division standings, but only briefly.

The Brilla (8-2-2) has won three straight since then to reclaim the top spot. Mississippi leads Central Florida (7-2-2) by three points for first place in the division.

After Saturday’s match, Baton Rouge will have a week off before returning home to face West Texas on July 17.

Another home match against New Orleans on July 23 completes the regular season.
