DENHAM SPRINGS — St. Michael the Archangel won seven individual events and Denham Springs won six to claim the girls and boys divisions, respectively, at the inaugural River City Quad Swim Meet on Saturday.
The event held at the Fitness and Aquatics Center at North Park marked the first time a high school swim meet was held in Livingston Parish.
St. Michael scored 140 points to claim the girls division, ahead of Runnels (86), and Denham Springs (71). Denham Springs won the boys division with 140 points. Walker (51) and St. Michael (22) were next.
Double winners for St. Michael were Camille Savoie (50 freestyle, 27.89; 100 backstroke, 1 minute, 16.05 seconds) and Stevie Breaux (100 freestyle 1:02.86, 100 breaststroke 1:19.99).
Other winners for the Warriors were Michelle Poole (200 freestyle 2:30.96) and Julia Goodridge (500 freestyle 7:01.13. Paige Latimer, of Denham Springs, (200 individual medley 2:57.26) and Callie Tucker, of Runnels, 100 butterfly 1:19.63) also won events.
The DSHS boys had one double winner, Brady Coleman (100 breaststroke, 1:12.76; 200 IM 2:21.94).
The Yellow Jackets other winners were Luke Goodrich (50 freestyle, 25.87), Jacob Braun (100 butterfly, 1:04.72), Alec Loga, (100 backstroke, 1:19.67) and Jacob Huey (200 freestyle, 2:50.63).
St. Michael’s Brandon Watts (100 freestyle, 58.53) also was a winner.
