RUSTON (AP) — Louisiana Tech head coach Teresa Weatherspoon says former Clemson guard Kelia Shelton has enrolled in classes for the winter quarter in Ruston and has joined the Lady Techster basketball program.

Although Shelton, a native of Rock Hill, S.C., began practicing immediately in mid-December with the team, she will have to sit out a year due to the NCAA transfer rules. She will become eligible to begin playing at the start of the winter quarter next year.

The 5-foot-8-inch guard played 30 games as a true freshman for the Tigers in 2010-11, making seven starts. She averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while averaging 21 minutes per contest for the Atlantic Coast Conference program.
