Grambling (0-1) at Houston (0-1)

WHEN: 7 p.m. Saturday

WHERE: TDECU Stadium (40,000), Houston

TV: ESPN3

SERIES: Houston leads 1-0.

STAT THAT MATTERS: Grambling may have allowed 525 yards of total offense against Lamar, but Houston was only able to muster 208 yards of offense in its season opener in a 27-7 loss to UTSA. Saturday could be a bounce-back contest for the Tigers defense.

NOTES: Last Saturday’s season opener against Lamar was one Grambling would probably like to forget. In a contest where the Tigers fell 42-27, Grambling’s offense struggled to make any noise, especially in the passing game. Senior quarterback D.J. Williams completed 12 of 22 passes for only 74 yards, with his longest pass of the day being for an 11-yard gain.

Southern Utah (0-1) at Southeastern (1-0)

WHEN: 7 p.m. Saturday.

WHERE: Strawberry Stadium (7,408), Hammond

TV: None

SERIES: First meeting

STAT THAT MATTERS: Southeastern’s offense was dominant in last weekend’s season opener against Jacksonville, totaling 564 yards in the 44-3 victory.

NOTES: There’s no denying it — SLU senior quarterback Bryan Bennett still runs the show in Hammond. Though he only played just a half in the opener, Bennett threw for 311 and two touchdowns while rushing for an 83-yard score.

Idaho (0-0) at UL-Monroe (1-0)

WHEN: 6:04 p.m. Saturday

WHERE: Malone Stadium (30,427), Monroe

TV: ESPN3

SERIES: Idaho leads 3-2.

STAT THAT MATTERS: The ULM defense was impenetrable against Wake Forest, allowing only five first downs.

NOTES: ULM opens up at home in back-to-back games for the first time since 1996. In ULM’s season-opening victory against Wake, the Warhawks were efficient in the ground game, totaling 163 net rushing yards. That being said, they still have their fair share to work on, including third down efficiency. ULM was only 9 of 21 on third down conversions.

Baylor QB Bryce Petty, who says he plans to play through a back injury, has thrown at least two touchdowns in each of his 14 starts. His 14-game streak with at least one TD pass is the longest in Baylor history, breaking a tie with Robert Griffin III in the opener. ... After Northwestern State, the Bears won’t be back at McLane Stadium again for more than a month.
