Left winger Barr re-signs with IceGators

Lafayette — The Louisiana IceGators announced Wednesday that left winger Tyler Barr has re-signed with the team.

This will be Tyler’s sixth professional season.

Barr’s first year as an IceGator began in 2012-2013, which was cut short with a season ending knee injury suffered in the season’s first game. Last season was a different story. In 34 games, he scored four goals and assisted 10 times for a total of 14 points, while amassing 160 penalty minutes.

The IceGators will drop the puck at their first home game at 3:05 p.m. Nov. 2.

LSU golfers participate in U.S. Amateur

ATLANTA — LSU junior Stewart Jolly and sophomore Zach Wright came up short in their bid to qualify for match play at the 114th United States Amateur Championship after wrapping up the second round in 36 holes of stroke play qualifying at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Tuesday.

The Top 64 qualifiers in the field of 312 players teeing off in Monday’s opening round of stroke play teed off Wednesday in match play.

Jolly finished tied for 121st place with a score of 5-over par 148. Wright was tied for 158th at 7-over par 150.

LSU diver Weil to compete at nationals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — LSU junior diver Cassie Weil will compete at the AT&T Diving National Championships at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Weil will compete on platform and three-meter springboard at the championships. Last year she took the bronze on platform with a score of 333.70.

“Cassie has been training at home and in Canada due to the natatorium renovations,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said.
