MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tulane’s fifth-year coach Bob Toledo and junior quarterback Ryan Griffin both expressed their excitement and enjoyment at appearing at the Conference USA Football Media Day on Sunday.
“It’s an exciting time of the year for all of us,” Toledo said. “Everyone is undefeated, re-energized and very enthusiastic and so are we. We’re ready to get started.
“We have a great schedule with 13 games in a row, which includes seven teams that played in a bowl game last year. Our staff and our players are very excited and looking forward to getting started.”
Only Marshall, which had flight issues and could not make the trip in time, did not attend the gathering.
Griffin, a two-year starter, was the only underclassmen among the group of players.
“This was fun experience that I enjoyed,” Griffin said.
“It was great talking to these guys. (Former Tulane assistant and West Virginia and Michigan head coach and current CBS analyst) Rich Rodriguez was here, and it was also fun seeing guys like Southern Miss’ Austin Davis, who I met this summer at the Manning Passing Academy, and saw some other quarterbacks we play on Saturday.”
Tulane’s season will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 in the Louisiana Superdome against Southeastern Louisiana.
