The team of Pat Morgan, Michelle Remington-Remo, Beth Tope and Cindi DiMarco fired a 72 to win the Baton Rouge Women’s Interclub Golf Association Playday hosted by the Santa Maria Ladies Golf Association.
The format was a shamble.
Jana O’Banion, Lillian Loupe and Dee Dee Becnel shot an 80 and won a scorecard playoff with Becky Brennan, Reba Wheeler, Rose Berggren and Cathy Ryan for second place.
Fourth place went to Ann Flack, Gwen Bridgewater and Penni Cartledge with an 81.
Also, Jan Doss Owen won closest to the pin on No. 11, Pat Morgan was closest to the pin on No. 17, and Lillian Loupe had the straightest drive on No. 15.
BREC GOLF LEAGUE WINNERS NAMED: The team of Pat Milton and Greg Crowell had a low team gross score of 32 to win the BREC Callaway Golf League. The format was a two-player best ball for nine holes at Dumas Golf Course.
Greg Barthe and Jason Miller (36) finished second, followed by Deborah Donchess and David Kennedy (38).
GAUTREAU WINS DUMAS EVENT: Wade Gautreau won a playoff with Crosby Lyman to win the championship flight of Dumas Golf Club’s stroke play event for May.
Gautreau and Lyman fired 71s in the event, while Pat Milton (73) was third in the championship flight.
Jason Miller (82) won the first flight, followed by Patrick Lyman (83) and Terry Ledet (86).
Charlie Hillman (94) won the second flight, while Stuart Madison (95) was second and Mark Riley (97) third.
Suzanne Seefield (90) won the ladies division, followed by Fran Harvey (95).
USSSA JUNIOR GOLF WINNERS NAMED: Lafayette’s Canon Clark won the boys 9-11-year-old title at the USSSA Junior Golf Tour Louisiana event at the Louisiana State Games at Frenchman’s Bend Golf Club in Monroe.
Clark shot an 84 for the two-day, 18-hole event, while Bryce Sutterfield of Oakdale (91) finished second. St. Amant’s Peyton Cantor (93) was third.
In the girls 15-18 division, Karlei Hemler of Groves, Texas, fired a 156 in the two-day 36-hole event to take the title. She also had the low score for the weekend, becoming the first female golfer on the tour to accomplish the feat. Karman Moss of Monroe was second in the division with a 243.
Colton Ryan of Benton (158) won the boys 15-18 championship, followed by Austin Maxwell of Pineville and Josh Carnes of Monroe (164), who tied for second. Mason Richardson (166) was fourth.
Monroe’s Grayson Gilbert (153) won the boys 12-14 age division, while Jonas Valentine of Jena (180) was second and Kenton Sinitiere of Franklin (185) was third.
Roberto Espinosa received the Louisiana State Games Sportsmanship Award for his attitude and play at the event.
BATON ROUGE TEAM WINS TITLE: In Lake Charles, the 15-16-year-old girls United Soccer Club of Baton Rouge won the Louisiana State Soccer Association championship played recently at Power Center Soccer Complex.
The United team defeated the Baton Rouge Soccer Association Red team 1-0 in the final.
In the 39th minute, of the first half, Elizabeth Bankhead scored the game’s only goal on a header off a corner kick by teammate Madi Catalanatto, both of whom play for University High.
