NEW ORLEANS - Homefield proved to be advantageous for the third straight game between the Baton Rouge Capitals and New Orleans as the Jesters prevailed, 3-1, Wednesday night at Pan American Stadium.
It was the third meeting between the teams in 12 days. New Orleans won the opener 2-1 on June 25 at Pan American, and the Capitals prevailed, 1-0, four days later at Christian Life Academy.
The four-game season series concludes July 23 in Baton Rouge.
The Capitals (6-6-1) conclude a three-game road swing when they play at Mississippi on Saturday. New Orleans (7-5-2) maintained its hold on third place over Baton Rouge in the Premier Development League Mid-South Division.
The Jesters took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Jesper Tornqvist and Reece Wilson. The Capitals got within 2-1 on a goal by Brandon Chagnard before New Orleans finished the scoring during penalty time on a kick by Carl Reynolds.
