ALEXANDRIA — Kay Daniel of Covington led all qualifiers and captured medalist honors at the Louisiana Women’s Golf Association amateur championship Sunday at Oak Wing.

Daniel, a former amateur champion, shot even-par 72.

Claiming the No. 2 seed was LSU golfer Elise Bradley, who shot 74. Bradley is a two-time winner of the amateur championship, claiming the title in 2010 and ’12. Both top seeds earned first-round byes when match play starts Monday.

Reigning junior amateur champion Julia Johnson of Baton Rouge is the No. 3 seed with a 76, followed by Centenary golfer Taylor Thompson of Baton Rouge with a 77. Also posting a score in the 70s was McNeese signee Olivia Hansen of Lake Charles with a 79.

Monday’s championship flight match-play pairings:

8 a.m.: Kie McNabb (DeRidder) vs. Lana Hodge (Monroe)

8:08 a.m.: Julie Harrison (Baton Rouge) vs. Taylor Kennedy (Baton Rouge)

8:16 a.m.: Taylor Thompson (Baton Rouge) vs. Pam Fossett (Lake Charles)

8:24 a.m.: Julia Johnson (Baton Rouge) vs. Abbey Daniel (Covington)

8:32 a.m.: Olivia Hansen (Lake Charles) vs. Aoife O’Donovan (Monroe)

8:40 a.m.: Haley Harrington (St. Francisville) vs. Jessica Varner (Baton Rouge)

The second and third rounds of match play are set for Tuesday, and the championship concludes Wednesday.
