NATCHITOCHES — While the Northwestern State football team continued transitioning from preseason camp to pregame work for next Thursday’s opener in Turpin Stadium against Missouri State, the Demons got a defensive boost Tuesday with the addition of New Orleans native Lyn Clark, a linebacker transferring from Louisville.
Clark, a 6-foot-2, 244-pound redshirt freshman, arrived on campus Monday and went through his first full day with the Demons Tuesday. He is eligible to play immediately, coach Jay Thomas said.
The Demons also added Nick Fabrizio, a transfer from Navy who will sit out the 2014 season as a redshirt and will have three seasons to play. Fabrizio, a 5-11, 190-pound option quarterback from Valrico, Florida, is the son of former Demon quarterback Rob Fabrizio (1984-86) and brother of junior linebacker Robert Fabrizio.
Clark was a standout at O. Perry Walker High School who made 111 tackles, including 17 for losses, nine sacks, nine forced fumbles and two interceptions as a senior in 2012. He redshirted last year at Louisville, and was listed as the second-team middle linebacker for the Cardinals entering preseason camp.
RAIN CANCELS PRACTICE: Heavy downpours canceled McNeese’s practice on Tuesday afternoon. The team will now practice twice on Wednesday at about 9:10 a.m. and at 4:30 in the afternoon.
The Cowboys will scrimmage again at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
