NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Hornets are scheduled to play eight preseason games next October, including a nationally televised home game against defending NBA champion Dallas.

Currently, NBA players are locked out of team facilities while owners and players try to forge a new collective bargaining agreement.

If a deal is made in time, the Hornets would open the preseason at San Antonio on Oct. 9.

New Orleans’ first home preseason game is slated for Oct. 18 against Orlando, and the Hornets are scheduled to host the Mavericks on Oct. 28.

The Hornets also are scheduled to play one of their home games in Biloxi, Miss., against Houston on Oct. 26.

New Orleans’ regular season opener is slated for Nov. 2, at home, against Chicago.
