KELLER, Texas – Maea Teuhema waited a year to sign with LSU.
When the day finally came, he didn’t leave any suspense.
Teuhema, literally and figuratively one of the biggest members of LSU’s Class of 2015, signed his national letter of intent at 8 a.m. Thursday in a packed ceremony at Keller High School.
The 6-foot-5, 340-pound Teuhema is one of the highest-rated players in LSU’s class.
In 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings, Teuhema ranks No. 37 overall and is rated as the nation’s No. 2 offensive guard.
Here are Teuhema’s rankings with the four major recruiting services:
Rivals: No. 29 nationally, No. 1 offensive guard, 5 stars
24/7 Sports: No. 34 nationally, No. 2 offensive guard, 4 stars
Scout: No. 42 nationally, No. 1 offensive guard, 4 stars
ESPN: No. 71 nationally, No. 2 offensive guard, 4 stars.
A first-team All-USA selection by USA Today, Teuhema is the younger brother of LSU defensive end Sione Teuhema, a sophomore for the Tigers this fall.
Maea Teuhema committed to the Tigers a year ago, the same day his brother signed with the Tigers. Teuhema originally committed to Texas in May 2013.
The Longhorns and UCLA continued to pursue him, but Teuhema never changed his commitment from LSU.
