Picks made today for fast track and on turf

Race 1

5 – Attaining – New trainer and ships in from Tampa where he showed speed.

9 – Makada – Showed some speed in last and gets a positive jockey change today.

Race 2

3 – Lady Loretta – Love the move to turf here first off the claim for Steve Asmussen — strong.

8 – Lilbitofjam – Should like the move to the turf, has the strong number power to boot.

Race 3

3 – Harbor Jedi – Scratched out of a tougher race Thursday; connections shopping for win.

7 – Betty Grable Eyes – Nothing wrong with this one’s last win and can easily repeat today.

Race 4

1 – Diamonds at Dawn – Obviously has some physical issues but has been given time here.

3 – Miz Clipper – Nice last race; stays at appropriate level where she is competitive.

Race 5

4 – Baydar – Should get a good trip here and has run well in last few – could stalk leader.

1 – Malibu Song – No knocks as gets the rail after a nice debut closing effort.

Race 6

2 – The Gipper – Picking against any Brad Cox horse right now is not prudent; this one fits.

5 – Hold Me Black – Ran too well to lose last time and should fire his race right back for Stall.

Race 7

4 – Half a Sugar – Trainer change here that is a strong positive move to put this one on top.

8 – Elusive Pal – Surely bred to sprint and trainer has good numbers with these types.

Race 8

1 – Heavenly Gem – Might be enough pace on early to set up this one’s late rush to the front.

5 – Tall Story – Likely leader but could have some serious company on the front end today.

Race 9

1 or 1A – Titos Tonight – or the stablemate here both look well spotted and tough to beat

6 – Divine Holiday – Fits off the drop that produced 2nd place finish last out for Roussel

Around the Track

A terrific and competitive Starlight Racing card is on tap for a Friday night with an opening sequence of three races featuring full fields. Miguel Mena has opened up a bit of daylight in the jockey standing to lead Shaun Bridgmohan by 5 wins heading into the final month of the meet. Mena leads 50-45 through Monday’s card. In the trainer’s race, Brad Cox and Joe Sharp are locked in a battle destined to go down to the final days with Cox leading 37 wins to 34 over Sharp.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet today will be in Race 3 — # 3 — Harbor Jedi. Connections could have run yesterday but waited for this spot today — so seems like good effort forthcoming.

Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
