BROWNWOOD, Texas - No. 21 Louisiana College scored 35 first-half points en route to a 42-14 win over Howard Payne on Saturday
The Wildcats (5-1, 3-1 American Southwest) had 510 yards of total offense while holding the Yellow Jackets (1-6, 1-4 ASC) to just 195 total yards.
Defensively, the Wildcats, had 13 tackles for loss and five sacks to go along with two forced fumbles.
LC quarterback Jamie Bunting had one of his best outings of the year, completing 22-of-30 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.
Senior wide receivers Darnell Williams and D’Mario Parker were both solid with Williams catching five passes for 64 yards and a 15-yard touchdown and Parker four passes for 74 yards and a 49-yard touchdown.
Running back Ryan Montague rushed for 84 yards and two scores and caught two passes for 59 yards, one for a 50-yard touchdown.
Howard Payne scored twice in the game.
The first touchdown, a seven-yard run by Rick Henderson, tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. LC would score another touchdown in the first quarter then score 21 in the second and seven in the third to put the game out of reach.
Next up for LC will be a home game against ASC opponent Sul Ross State at 4:30 p.m. next Saturday.
