DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Quentin Williams threw for 165 yards and ran for two touchdowns to rally Bethune-Cookman to a 36-23 comeback win over Grambling on Saturday.
Trailing 23-22 in the fourth quarter, Bethune-Cookman (2-0) drove 46 yards to set up a Haden Hoggarth field goal but took the first down instead after a roughing the kicker penalty against Grambling. Danny Dillard ran in the 5-yard go-ahead TD two plays later. The Wildcats then held the Tigers (0-3) and scored again in the final minute when Drexler Dixon ran in for a touchdown from the 3 to give Bethune-Cookman its first win over Grambling since 1954.
MCNEESE STATE 48, PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 16: In Lake Charles, Derrick Milton ran for 109 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead McNeese State over Prairie View A&M.
ALCORN STATE 52, LOUISIANA COLLEGE 10: In Lorman, Miss., John Gibbs Jr. threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third as Alcorn State beat Division III Louisiana College.
Gibbs was 18 of 31 for 189 yards for the Braves (2-1). Jordan Payne grabbed both touchdown passes and had 79 yards receiving.
HENDERSON STATE 27, NICHOLLS STATE 10: In Thibodaux, Kevin Rodgers threw for 169 yards and one touchdown to lead Division II Henderson State over Nicholls State.
The Colonels didn’t score until almost 10 minutes into the third, when Tobias Lofton ran in 5 yards for a TD, and closed within 8 after a field goal by Frank Condado to start the fourth.
Jaquan Cole’s 2-yard TD run stretched Henderson State’s lead to 14 points.
Nicholls (0-3) was coming off a 73-7 loss to Arkansas, which put an end to the Razorbacks’ longest losing streak in school history.
The Reddies (2-0) routed Southern Nazarene 72-7 on the same day.
