With exactly one week to go before the first tee shot, the Fore!Kids Foundation is putting the finishing touches on the 156-man field that will participate in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

While the deadline to enter is 4 p.m. Friday, tournament officials have commitments from three of the world’s top 10 players, nine former major winners and 29 winners on the PGA Tour in the past two seasons.

As it has for the past eight years, the tournament will be played April 23-26 at TPC Louisiana in Avondale. The winner will take home $1.242 million from the total purse of $6.9 million, a record for the New Orleans event.

The players listed in the top 10 in the current world rankings are No. 5 Jason Day, No. 6 Dustin Johnson and No. 8 Justin Rose.

All three made the cut at the Masters this past weekend. Rose tied Phil Mickelson for second place as they finished four strokes behind winner Jordan Spieth, whose 18-under total matched the tournament record set by Tiger Woods. Johnson tied for sixth and Day tied for 28th.

Rose, who won the 2013 U.S. Open, will be joined in the field by eight other major winners.

The list includes Keegan Bradley (2011 PGA Championship), Stewart Cink (2009 British Open), Lucas Glover (2009 U.S. Open), Retief Goosen (2001 and 2004 U.S. Open), Justin Leonard (1997 British Open), Vijay Singh (2001 Masters, 1998 and 2004 PGA Championship), David Toms (2001 PGA Championship) and Mike Weir (2003 Masters).

“Our field this year is shaping up to be very strong,” said Fore!Kids Foundation CEO Steve Worthy.

Day won the Farmers Insurance Open in early February, while Johnson took the title in the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in March. Rose claimed the title in the Quicken Loans National last June.

Other notable players scheduled to compete that have won in the past two seasons are Jonas Blixt, Matt Every, Ben Crane, Harris English, J.B. Holmes, Billy Horschel, Seung-Yul Noh, Michael Thompson, Camilo Villegas and Boo Weekley.

Noh is the defending Zurich Classic champion and Horschel won the title in 2013.

Single-day grounds tickets are $25 and weekly passes are $75. Tickets are available by calling the Fore!Kids Foundation office (504) 342-3000 or they can be purchased online at www.zurichgolfclassic.com.
