BELTON, Texas — No. 19 Louisiana College’s visit to No. 4 Mary Hardin-Baylor started out almost perfectly. The Wildcats scored the first 10 points of the game.

But a collection of stalled series and turnovers helped Mary Hardin-Baylor (5-0, 3-0) score 36 unanswered points to claim a 36-10 victory in American Southwest Conference action Saturday.

Louisiana College (3-1, 1-1) committed three turnovers — all interceptions — and punted eight times, tied for the fourth most in a single game in school history.

The Wildcats came out firing. LC marched 61 yards in 13 plays and took a 3-0 lead on a 24-yard field goal by Adan Olivares.

Two possessions later, an interception by Reggie Calhoun set up the other LC score. Dayne Reeves’ 40-yard catch set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Ryan Montague.

Mary Hardin-Baylor got to within 10-7 when junior quarterback LiDarral Bailey capped a nine-play, 66-yard drive with a 10-yard TD run. It was the first touchdown surrendered by the LC defense in 10 quarters.

On the Cru’s next possession, Bailey accounted for 52 of 62 yards. Darius Wilson scored on a 10-yard run to give Mary Hardin-Baylor a 14-10 lead.

Kicker Chad Peevey added field goals of 33 and 40 yards to make it 20-10 game.

Mary Hardin-Baylor upped its lead to 26-10 with 54 seconds to play in the third quarter on a 43-yard run by Elijah Hudson.

A third field goal by Peevey — this one 31 yards — made it 29-10. A 66-yard interception return by Cody Jones rounded out the scoring.

Wilson had 171 yards on 25 carries, Bailey 110 on 19 carries and Hudson 103 on 13 carries for the Cru.

Louisiana College was held to just 56 yards rushing. Reeves led Louisiana College making eight catches for 121 yards.

Jamie Bunting went 15-for-37 passing for 193 yards.
