Oklahoma City — Catcher Rob Brantly was 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and five RBIs to lead the Zephyrs to a 14-8 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Monday night.
The win was the Zephyrs’ third of the season and secured a road split of the four-game series at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Zephyrs’ bats heated up early with four first-inning runs, brought home by two-run doubles from Kyle Jensen and Brantly. The Zephyrs added five runs in the fifth to pull ahead 10-3. Oklahoma City answered with four runs in the seventh, but New Orleans added two runs in each of the final two innings to pull away.
Zephyrs starter Bryan Evans pitched 5.2 innings for the win, his first in Triple-A.
The Zephyrs continue their road trip at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday by starting a four-game series in Des Moines, Iowa, against the Iowa Cubs. The Zephyrs are slated to start left-hander Adam Conley (0-1, 8.68 ERA) against Iowa righty Kyle Hendricks (1-1, 5.40).
