SEMINOLE, Okla. — Delgado split a doubleheader in the South Central District Regional on Monday, defeating host-Seminole State 9-6 in 10 innings and then falling to St. Louis Community College 12-8 in the first game of the championship round.

In the first game, Delgado’s Julio Gonzales’ home run in the eighth cut the lead to two. In the bottom of the ninth, Ricardo Sanchez homered before three consecutive singles tied the game to force extra innings.

Delgado plays St. Louis in a winner-take-all Game 5 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the winner advancing to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

In the Delgado 10th, Christian Volion doubled, advanced on a single by Devin Morrill, and scored on a double by Garrett Shano. Cole Freeman reached on a fielder’s choice, which retired Morrill at the plate. Troy Lewis’ two-out double the following at-bat plated Shano and Freeman, giving Delgado the 9-6 lead.

Reliever Laine Fontenot picked up the win, pitching the eighth and ninth innings in relief of starter Connor McWilliams, who held the Trojans to one unearned run. Troy Lewis closed the game to earn the save. In the first game Monday, Delgado took an early 4-0 lead and led 8-4 in the sixth, before St. Louis rallied with eight runs in the seventh for the win.
