The Baton Rouge Capitals continue their rivalry with the New Orleans Jesters when the teams meet Wednesday in the second of four regular-season showdowns.

The Capitals will look to avenge a 2-1 setback to New Orleans on Saturday at Pan American Stadium. The rematch begins at 7 p.m. at Christian Life Academy.

New Orleans sits third behind El Paso and Laredo in the Premier Development League’s Mid-South Division standings. The Jesters (6-3-0) have won five of their last six matches since a 1-2 start.

Baton Rouge (4-5-1) can’t catch New Orleans with a win Wednesday, but a victory for the fourth-place Capitals would get them within two points of their rivals in the Mid-South. Baton Rouge was a hot team riding a three-game winning streak before El Paso played the Capitals to a 2-2 tie June 19, followed by the loss at New Orleans.

Instead of the standard home-and-home with other divisional foes, the Capitals and Jesters play four times because of their proximity.

Baton Rouge will see the Jesters again in New Orleans on July 6 after traveling to play Nashville on July 2. The last matchup of the two Louisiana teams comes July 23 at Christian Life in the regular-season finale.

Each of Baton Rouge’s five setbacks has come by a single goal.
