KATY, Texas — Brandon Fortenberry scored 18 points, leading five players in double figures, as Southeastern Louisiana beat McNeese State 85-65 on Thursday in the Southland Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Dre Evans scored 17 points, and Onochie Ochie had 15. Jeffery Ricard had 14 points, and Roger Woods added 10 for the fourth-seeded Lions.

Southeastern (13-17) led 53-36 at halftime. The Lions shot 55.8 percent from the field, while the eighth-seeded Cowboys shot 42.9 percent.

Southeastern plays top-seeded Stephen F. Austin on Friday.

WAC men

UTSA 73, Louisiana Tech 67: In Las Vegas, Kannon Burrage had 26 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 9 seed UTSA stunned top-seeded Louisiana Tech to reach the Western Athletic Conference tournament semis.

Michael Hale II added 17 points for the Roadrunners (10-21), who shot 54 percent in the second half to rally. Kenneth Smith had 16 points for the Bulldogs (26-6), who ended the regular season with losses at New Mexico State and Denver and now will hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

Southland women

McNEESE STATE 86, NICHOLLS STATE 70: In Katy, Texas, McNeese shot 53 percent from the field to bounce Nicholls in the second round of the Southland tournament.

Emani White scored 18 points to pace Nicholls (19-11), which set a program record for wins.

NAIA women

FAULKER 67, XAVIER 63: In Frankfort, Ky., All-America center Brittney Carter led Faulkner (Ala.) with 26 points and 14 rebounds to bounce Xavier in the first round.

SiMon Franklin scored 17 points for Xavier (24-6).

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN 78, SOUTHERN-NO 57: In Frankfort, Ky., Nicole Hampton had a triple-double — 11 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists — to lead Lubbock Christian (Texas) past Southern-New Orleans in the opening round.

Janee Morton paced the Knights (20-5) with 20 points.

NAIA men

LSUS PREPS FOR SECOND ROUND: LSU Shreveport will face Evangel (Mo.) in the second round of the NAIA tournament Friday after upsetting No. 8 seed Pikeville (Ky.) 91-87 on Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo.

Rodney Milum scored 30 points for the Pilots (25-6) against Pikeville.
