CLINTON, Miss. — LSU Eunice cruised to a 10-1 win over Des Moines Area Community College Thursday to stay in the winners bracket at the NJCAA Division II softball World Series.

The No. 4 Lady Bengals will take on No. 9 Labette Community College, which grabbed a 6-3 win over top-seed Phoenix College, at noon on Friday.

The Lady Bears’ Sydney Weldon hit a solo home run in bottom of the fourth to avoid the shutout before the Lady Bengals exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth inning to seal the mercy-rule win.

Jordan Hartman had a pinch-hit home run to cap the scoring.

Abigail Leonards of Iota earned the win, allowing one run on five hits with two walks.

Maddie Edmonston of St. Amant went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Rebecca Skains went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs, and Bobbi Smith went 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two runs.
