COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Jake Marisnick and Jordany Valdespin hit home runs, and Brian Flynn pitched six shutout innings as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated Colorado Springs 8-2 in the series opener at Security Service Field.

Flynn (4-2) pitched six innings limited the Sky Sox to two hits and earned his fourth win of the season.

The Zephyrs got a solo home run from Marisnick in the fifth inning to get a 1-0 lead.

The Zephyrs erupted in the seventh, sending 10 hitters to the plate and scoring five runs. Former Tulane standout Brian Bogusevic drove home a pair on a stand-up triple, while Josh Rodriguez added two hits for his 10th multi-hit game of the season.

The Sky Sox scored a pair of unearned runs in the seventh inning, but Valdespin drilled a two-run home run in the ninth inning to cap the scoring for New Orleans.

New Orleans is 3-2 on the trip and out-hit Colorado Springs 10-5 in the game.
