NEW ROADS — Livonia High piled up 543 yards with Mark Lewis, Mason Torres and Diante Bridgewater helping to pave the way for a 53-0 victory over Catholic-Pointe Coupee on Friday night.
Torres completed all nine of his passes for 195 yards and five touchdowns. The Class 3A Wildcats (3-0) completed all 12 passes they attempted.
Lewis ran for 153 yards on 14 carries, including TD runs of 4 and 7 yards.
Bridgewater finished with four catches for 116 yards, including TD catches of 59, 19 and 3 yards.
Forrest Cazayoux ran for 115 yards on 23 carries to pace Class 1A CHSPC (0-3).
PORT ALLEN 54, CRESCENT CITY 21: In Port Allen, Darrian Claibourne passed for 232 yards, while Ricky Merritt ran for 153 yards to help host Pelican (3-0) remain unbeaten.
Class 3A PAHS scored 39 first-half points to take control of the game with Class 1A Crescent City (1-2).
Merritt had TD runs of 28 and 74 yards for the Pelicans. Claibourne completed 6 of 9 passes and four TDs, including TD passes of 29 and 43 yards Ashton Williams.
Williams led all PAHS receivers with two catches for 72 yards. Chris Bynum (52-yard TD pass) and Kyle Moore (89-yard TD pass) were also on the receiving end of big plays.
ST. THOMAS MORE 28, WESTGATE 12: In New Iberia, top-ranked STM (3-0), of Class 4A scored 14 points in the first and fourth quarters.
Andrew Stevenson caught scoring passes of 97 and 23 yards from Brandon Bergeron, who completed 20 of 25 passes for 267 yards to pace STM. Stevenson had four catches for 144 yards.
Brandon Malveaux ran for 73 yards on four carries, including a 41-yard TD run for 5A Westgate (0-3).
CATHOLIC-NI 32, NORTH VERMILION 0: In New Iberia, Catholic-New Iberia scored in every quarter.
Joe Lissard had TD passes of 32 yards to Rhett Gonsoulin and 13 yards to Blake Byron.
VILLE PLATTE 34, SACRED HEART 26: In Ville Platte, Darius Poullard carried 26 times for 252 yards and four touchdowns to lead the winners, and Sacred Heart’s Drew David ran 27 times for 233 yards and four scores in the cross-town rivalry.
Poullard scored on runs covering 5, 15, 88 and 5 yards to send Ville Platte out to a 34-12 lead early in the final period. Davis got Sacred Heart (2-1) close with fourth-quarter scoring runs of 32 and 3 yards. He scored in the second quarter on runs of 61 and 4 yards to pull Sacred Heart within two points of Ville Platte’s 14-12 halftime lead.
Ville Platte finished with 437 yards to 428 for Sacred Heart.
CARENCRO 69, CALVARY BAPTIST 48: In Carencro, the Bears (3-0), Class 5A’s seventh-ranked team, amassed 534 rushing yards, but had to hold off the aerial circus Class 2A’s 10th ranked Calvary Baptist (1-2) brought to town.
Alex Johnson led Carencro with 30 carries for 346 yards and scores covering 37, 36 and 10 yards. Jaylan Rose ran 10 times for 162 yards and five TD on runs of 56, 38, 12, 19 and 32.
When the smoke cleared, Carencro had 556 total yards to Calvary’s Baptist’s 680 with 569 of them coming on Nik McCarty’s 37-of-56 passing performance.
McCarty had touchdown passes covering 15, 30 and 69 yards to Brandon Wilson, a 6-yarder to Jonathan Shepherd, a 9-yarder to Cody Bordelon and a 79-yard bomb to Colin Stogner.
